This chromogen is used for the detection of Fe(II) and Co(III) in clinical chemistry reagents. EDTA can dissolve Cu(II) and Ni(II) cmplexes so it is useful to determine Fe in the presence of Cu and Ni. Fe(II) complexe absorbs at 558nm / 89,000.
